Friday Fit New and Finds

November 21, 2008 · 8 Comments

Things are seriously crazy, but I couldn’t resist sneaking a second to post some fab finds :) Happy Friday everyone!

The new Fitness Passbooks are out. This is seriously the cheapest way to try TONS of yoga, pilates and dance classes and try out over 100 gyms in the city.  Several cities offer them, so check out the website!

giadadelaurentiis-01115 Nutritious foods for $2!

My own money saving tip, order a Misto (cafe au lait) at Starbucks, it’s almost $2 less than a latte or cappuccinobecause it is made with coffee not espresso.  Plus, it’s less calories!

Speaking of fabulous food.  Giada DeLaurentis is on the cover of Self.  I heart her!  She is a great short girl role model.   Check out this fab video from the cover shoot. (scroll down)

For my city folks, Jack Rabbit Sports Manhattan store is having a huge thanksgiving clearance! Starting Friday stock up on apparel, accessories, sale items and more!

In general news, there has been a lot of mention of eating before and after workouts around the web.  A few months ago, I linked to this article, which I think expresses my sentiments well and gives great tips on eating before and after workouts.  And as Rev mentioned, for us everyday folks, working out is hardly an excuse to eat whatever. As tempting as it maybe to write off a huge night time snack or extra helping of ice cream after a post-din din workout, most of us don’t need to replenish the calories.  For most of us exercising is a necessary addition to healthy diet for weight management.  On the other hand, a small snack before a workout can really help drive you through it, especially if it has been more than 3 hours since your last meal.  I try–when possible–to plan my workouts before a meal, so that I can enjoy a nice size serving of food after I have worked out up an appetite, food always tastes the best then.

Finally for my fashionistas: How cute is this outfit? gossip girl for grown ups! Love it! Details at Omiru!
