Happy Sunday! It is a MUCH nicer day out there today, so I will definitely be running outside. I have to miss spinning
because I have my internship tonight. Despite being up until 3:30 AM last night working on my paper, presentation and group paper–all due on Monday, I am in a great mood. It must be the sunshine…or maybe it’s music.
Sometimes knowing I get to listen to my ipod on the way to work or at the gym in the morning gets me all excited to get out of bed. youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbgYcbJ8Tv8]
Anyways, I feel guilty for not keeping up with my playlist of the weeks! I must apologize. There are a couple reasons, mainly Girl Talk is all I want to listen to because it is the best workout music EVER! I seriously can not give you a better recommendation than to download Feed the Animals (it’s pay what you wish) and Night Ripper. I linked to myspace so you can preview. Thank you so much to Gena and Shane for the recommendation, it has, as you promised, changed my cardio life.
I actually got to go to one of the three sold out Girl Talk concerts at Terminal 5 in NYC last week, and it was AWESOME! So much fun. I mean I was a little taken aback by all the drug use, but at least my father can rest assured that while I moved to the city and became a democrat (progressing to obamathoner), and least some of my puritan values are still intact. haha Clearly I could go on and on about Girl Talk, but I can only lead a horse to water, so giddy up folks!
In addition, MGMT has been highly recommended, I’m not in love, but it’s growing on me.
Wow, I need to stop rambling (as always). Anyways, between girl talk and my gossip girl and top 40 playlists,I haven’t been updating my playlist too often. However, I did a little pursuing and found a couple good playlists that you might want to check out. I linked to fitness mag’s top 100 songs before, it’s on their website.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the shout out and the AWESOME links. The funny thing is I thought I was the only person who considers “Hurricane” a workout song. I will definitely be doing some shopping this afternoon at the itunes store while hopefully writing my last memo
I was wondering how the concert went. I’m not that surprised about the drug use b/c I don’t go to many concerts, but last year at Matisyahu’s hannukah concert there was a lot of pot and it was at a no smoking venue (so if people were doing drugs at a Matis concert, then GT was probably more intense). Good luck w/ all your papers and presentations!

I love Girl Talk! They do some awesome remixes, too. Other artists that get me moving: the latest stuff from the Killers (“Human”), Cut Copy, Justice.

I LOVE Girl Talk! My roommate went to see them at All Points West this summer and couldn’t stop raving. I’m so jealous that you saw them live.

Wow ladies, I was clearly the one in the dark about Girl Talk. I am glad you share my love!
Good luck with the memo RDB!
Betsy, I will also miss the JRS sale! And again for the holiday sale I fear. We really need to go running together one of these days.

Hey!! First of all, thank you for your amazing site! I completed my third half marathon this weekend and while my time didn’t turn out too well due to 17 degree starting temperatures, frozen path, and a huge fall which left me with two bleeding knees, I finished in 2 hours and 14 minutes which was 10 minutes slower than last year.
I have my 3rd half of the season in three weeks and would really like to improve my health, time, and mindset before then. However, my next half is Charlotte which is LOTS of hills! I was wondering if you had A) tips for making changes that i’ll be able to feel in 3 weeks B) a great treadmill hill workout as I run in Philly and NYC each week which are pretty flat C) any other suggestions?
Thanks!!! Ashley

Hi Ashley,
You are so welcome for the blog. Considering the fall, I think you had a stellar half.
A.) Varying your training through tempo running, sprints, hill training and adding lunges, squats, sit ups and pushes to your routine should help making you stronger even in a short time. I would advise not overtraining though. 5 workouts a week MAX.
b.) I am going to post workouts!
C.) First realize your body performs differently in different temps so dress appropriately–like it’s 20 degrees warmer than it is. Also it’s good to have things to visualize or motivating thoughts to refer to. I used to think about my honored teammates who were so strong despite having cancer. Think about who you run for and why. I also thought about my goal, not fatigue. Or even just thinking about your next step. Picture finishing strong. Remember this is your time for you and be happy you value yourself enough to do the things you love. Think of the best thing about running: how great it is when you finish and get to stop
Also have a banging playlist.
