T-day recap #2-Turkey Bowl 2008

November 30, 2008 · 5 Comments

The 8th Annual Turkey Bowl was definitely a fun one. I improved my game performance remarkable from previous years. This included catching the ball about 8 times, and only dropping it twice. Staying on my team’s side of the line (very difficult). And scoring two touch downs, but to be fair, I was practically at the line when I got the ball, so very little yardage was involved.

I also got tackled at least 4 times, but people were fairly nice and gentle…mainly cause I am just not that intimidating or strong, so I didn’t need to be iron walled and thrown to the ground.

On a side note, one of my girlfriends was dominating the game, even the boys. I asked her how she got so ludicrously fit, and she said she started running over the summer and lost 20 pounds.  Inspiring!

We played for about 3 hours. I took a few breaks to chat with the girls who were not playing this year. At half time I brought out two loaves of Tina’s Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf. It was awesome and fudgy. I was a bit nervous because I don’t really like pumpkin. It had a hint of pumpkin and gingerbread (which I also don’t like), but the chocolate flavor and fudgy texture made it just fabulous. If I make it again, I will probably try and cut down on the amount of sugar though.

tb2008That was really all my exercise for the day.  That night we all went out in (Sara)Toga, plus at least 15 more people and took over the bar.  It was great to see so many great high school friends looking fabulous.

Oh, pre-Turkey Bowl, I cut about 10 inches off my hair.  I am still kind of in shock.  I tend to be really drastic in the chair.  Every few years, I seriously chop it off. I go big or go home, or in this case go big and go home.  I don’t hate it or anything, but I think I am establishing a no more than 5 inches at a time rule. Anyways, I am going to attempt to rock the asymmetric bob look, a la posh/ reese witherspoon circa Sweet Home Alabama.   I am not ready to post a real pic yet.

Oh final Thanksgiving note, if you didn’t see the presidential turkey pardon, you can view it here.  Yay for Pumkin and Pecan.

    looks like lots of fun!!

and what a long amount of hair to chop off! i did the same thing back in march and donated mine to locks of love…were you going to do that?

I wish I could have donated my hair to locks of love. A few years ago, I tried when I cut off a foot, but they said my hair was color treated and couldn’t be donated. this time, it was the same case! But that was really great of you Melissa!

I’m just getting caught up reading your blog and I donated 10 inches of my hair 2 weeks ago to locks of love. I don’t “love” my haircut (and I will be growing it back out), but it’s fun for now, and I’ll just hope it grows fast! :)
